Asmita Hockey State League to Showcase 16 Districts Across Maharashtra

A total of 16 teams from across the state will compete for top honors in the first-ever Asmita Hockey State League, taking place at the Maj Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Nehrunagar-Pimpri starting this Saturday.

This tournament will feature two categories: sub-juniors and juniors, running from March 7 to March 14.


The event is organized under the auspices of Hockey India, the Sports Authority of India, and Hockey Maharashtra. In the junior girls’ category, teams from eight districts will compete, with the same number participating in the sub-junior girls’ division.

The preliminary rounds will consist of a round-robin league, with the top two teams from each category advancing to the knockout semifinals, followed by the finals.

The winners of both sub-junior and junior categories will receive cash prizes for their outstanding performance.

Abhinav Sharma, Deputy Director of the Sports Authority of India (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, MYAS, Government of India), stated, “The Asmita Women’s League is a Khelo India initiative aimed at encouraging women’s participation in sports across India. In partnership with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Hockey India, this league seeks to enhance women’s sports involvement, identify new talents, evaluate current Khelo India athletes, and provide competitive opportunities for women at various age levels nationwide.”

The Asmita Hockey State League will kick off with an exhibition match featuring former Olympians and international players from the state, who will compete against school girls, followed by a trophy unveiling ceremony on Saturday.

Pool-A: Chandrapur, Nagpur, Yavatmal, and Pune.

Pool-B: Gondia, Raigad, Thane, and Mumbai City.

Juniors:

Pool-A: Aurangabad, Mumbai Suburb, Nashik, and Satara.

Dhoni Spotted Boarding CSK Bus.

Hyderabad: A video of MS Dhoni boarding the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team bus has gone viral on social media, raising questions about his return to action.

CSK is set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday, April 18, in Hyderabad. Dhoni has already traveled with the squad ahead of the match, and the team itself shared the update on its official X account.

However, there is still no official confirmation on whether Dhoni will play in the upcoming match.

Earlier, CSK had announced that Dhoni would miss the first two weeks of Indian Premier League 2026 due to a muscle strain in his leg. With that period now completed, fans are eagerly waiting for clarity on his return.

Anushka’s Reaction to Kohli Miss Half-Century by 1 Run

Bengaluru: Virat Kohli missed his 66th IPL half-century by just one run in a match against Lucknow Super Giants. His dismissal left fans disappointed.

Kohli scored 49 runs from 34 balls. He hit six boundaries and one six. He looked in good form during the chase.

He got out while trying to reach his fifty. Avesh Khan bowled the ball. Nicholas Pooran took the catch.

Anushka Sharma was present in the stadium. She looked disappointed after Kohli got out. Her reaction quickly went viral on social media.

In the match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru won by five wickets. The game was played in Bengaluru.

RCB bowlers performed well. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took three wickets.

Injury Concern for Virat Kohli Ahead of RCB vs LSG Clash

Mangaluru: There is uncertainty over the availability of Virat Kohli for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday.

Kohli is currently dealing with an ankle strain. He did not take the field in the previous match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.

During the latest training session, Kohli was seen at the nets. However, he mostly focused on light running drills. He also had strapping on his leg. This raised fresh concerns among fans.

Despite the injury, Kohli has been in good form this season. He has scored 179 runs in four matches. His average is 59.66. His strike rate stands at 162.72. He has also scored two half-centuries, with a best of 69 not out.

In the last match against Mumbai Indians, Kohli scored 50 runs from 38 balls. He hit five fours and one six. However, he did not look at his fluent best.

RCB had a strong batting performance in that game. Phil Salt scored 78 runs off 36 balls. Rajat Patidar added a quick 53 from 20 balls. The team posted a huge total of 240 for 4.

Mumbai Indians fought hard in reply. Sherfane Rutherford scored an unbeaten 71 off 31 balls. However, the team finished at 222 for 5. RCB won the match by 18 runs.

Kohli did not return to the field during the second innings. He was seen sitting out while wearing a jacket.
