Arrest Warrant Issued for Sonu Sood in Fraud Case

On Thursday, a court in Ludhiana issued an arrest warrant for actor Sonu Sood in relation to an alleged fraud case. The warrant, issued by Judicial Magistrate Ramanpreet Kaur, followed Sood’s failure to appear for his testimony in the matter.

The case stems from a complaint filed by Ludhiana lawyer Rajesh Khanna, who alleges that one Mohit Shukla defrauded him of ₹10 lakh by enticing him to invest in a phony Rijika coin. Sood was expected to testify regarding this fraudulent scheme.

Despite receiving multiple summons from the court, the actor did not respond, prompting the magistrate to authorize an arrest warrant. This warrant has been sent to the Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai’s Andheri West, instructing them to arrest Sood and bring him to court.

According to the magistrate’s order, “Sonu Sood has been duly served with summons or warrants but has failed to attend. He is absconding to avoid service.” The warrant further instructs police to return it by February 10, 2025, along with certification of its execution or an explanation for any failure to execute.

The next hearing for the case is scheduled for February 10.

On the professional front, Sonu Sood is directing the film ‘Fateh,’ which tells the story of a former special ops operative who becomes embroiled in a cybercrime syndicate after a young woman falls victim to a dangerous scam. His character embarks on a relentless quest reminiscent of ‘John Wick,’ with escalating violence throughout the narrative. The film also features prominent actors such as Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, and Naseeruddin Shah.
