Devank Dalal, the star raider for Patna Pirates and Services, shone brightly in Season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League. He claimed the title of the league’s top raider with a remarkable total of 301 raid points and 18 Super 10s.

Further solidifying his prowess, he was recently honored as the ‘Best Player’ at the 71st Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship. Dalal led Services to victory in a thrilling final against Railways at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack.

Reflecting on his journey, Dalal shared, “I was inspired by Pardeep Narwal while watching kabaddi.” Initially dabbling in football and cricket, he discovered his true passion for kabaddi after finishing tenth grade.

A pivotal moment in his career occurred when he joined the armed forces. “It was there that I realized I could play,” he recalled. This epiphany set him on a path that led to his eventual selection for the Jaipur Pink Panthers, later joining the Patna Pirates for PKL Season 11.

His selection for Patna Pirates was a cause for celebration in his village. “Everyone was excited at home. My family and neighbors were thrilled, and sweets were distributed throughout the village,” Dalal remembered.

The 71st Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship showcased his extraordinary talent on a grand platform. The tournament, featuring top-tier teams from across India, culminated in a tense finale where Services battled the strong Railways team. With the match ending in a 30-30 tie, Services clinched victory in the tie-breaker, 6-4, thanks to Dalal’s pivotal raid points during crucial moments.

Dalal’s journey with Patna Pirates in the PKL has been equally impressive. He topped the league as its best raider in Season 11, accumulating 301 raid points, including 18 Super 10s, and guided his team to the finals, where they faced a tough 32-23 defeat against the Haryana Steelers.

When discussing his development in the sport, Dalal highlighted the significance of collaboration and learning within a team. “We used to practice and play together. Trust builds when you’re with your teammates,” he noted. This philosophy has been integral to his successes, reflected in his outstanding performances.

Dalal’s humility is evident when he talks about his achievements. “In our team, there’s no hierarchy among raiders. Everyone contributes equally. Our partnership with Ayan Lohchab is very effective,” he remarked, illustrating the dynamics within his team.

Looking to the future, Dalal remains dedicated to personal growth and team achievements. His deep understanding of the game is notable: “Where I raid—be it in six, four, or five—the movement and ability to stop are crucial. If I halt my movement, I’m easily caught, whereas continuous movement helps me secure points,” he explained, as he sets his sights on becoming the best raider in kabaddi.

Pooran was bowled on the first ball, leading to heavy criticism from fans. Many questioned the decision, especially because Narine had earlier troubled Pooran in a past Super Over.

Langer also said Pooran is one of the best T20 players in recent years but is currently low on confidence. He assured that the team is working hard to help him regain form
