Allu Aravind Eager to Produce ‘Ghajini 2’ Starring Aamir Khan

The 2008 thriller ‘Ghajini,’ starring Aamir Khan, marked a significant milestone in Bollywood by being the first film to enter the 100 crore club. Presented by Allu Aravind and directed by A R Murugadoss, this psychological action thriller grossed over 200 crores and is a remake of the Tamil film featuring actor Suriya. The original film drew inspiration from the acclaimed Hollywood movie ‘Memento.’ Alongside Khan, the cast included Asin and the late Jiah Khan. Exciting news is on the horizon, as ‘Ghajini 2’ is reportedly in the works.During the recent trailer launch of ‘Thandel,’ Allu Aravind expressed his desire to collaborate with Aamir Khan on ‘Ghajini 2.’ Khan was there to unveil the Hindi trailer of the upcoming film. Reflecting on the success of the 2008 film, Aravind remarked, “At that time, achieving 100 crores at the box office felt impossible. During the shoot, he challenged us, stating that this would be the first ₹100 crore film.”

He added, “We were all hopeful. Ghajini paved the way for films to earn 100 crores. Today, reaching that milestone is akin to making a 1000 crore film. I aspire to create a ₹1000 crore movie with you, perhaps Ghajini 2.”

In addition, Aamir Khan shared his experience of being invited as the chief guest for the Hindi trailer launch of ‘Thandel,’ which stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi. Khan recounted, “Without knowing much about it, I enthusiastically agreed. He told me, ‘Just so you know, this film is releasing on February 7th.’ I replied, ‘Okay, and?’ He followed up with, ‘Your son’s film is also debuting on that same day.’” Notably, Aamir’s son, Junaid Khan, is set to release his film ‘Loveyapa’ on February 7.

Commenting on ‘Thandel,’ Aamir emphasized, “I have faith that all films will succeed if they have a compelling story. Audiences appreciate good storytelling. In the past, films released on the same day have found success. The trailer is fantastic—well-produced with excellent music.”

Kher is at the festival for the world premiere of ‘Tanvi The Great,’ set to debut on May 17. It has been over a decade since they last shared the screen in ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ (2012), alongside Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, but their bond appears as strong as ever.

A press release from Kher’s team revealed that the two spent quality time reminiscing, with Kher eagerly sharing insights about his latest film. He also introduced debut actor Shubhangi Dutt to De Niro, who graciously congratulated her and extended his best wishes.

The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including debut actress Shubhangi Dutt and Karan Tacker, who makes his film debut, alongside notable talents such as Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, and ‘Game of Thrones’ star Iain Glen.

The film’s prestige is further elevated by its sound design, crafted by Academy Award-winner Resul Pookutty, famed for his work on ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’
