Veteran Malayalam actor Mohanlal has come under fire following his emotional post denouncing the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of over 26 people. The superstar is facing backlash on social media due to his role in ‘Empuraan,’ where he plays a mentor to a Kashmiri youth who becomes a mercenary, leading some to label him a hypocrite.

In a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), Mohanlal expressed his profound sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, describing the attack as “devastating” and calling for national unity in grief and resilience.

He stated, “My heart goes out to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. It is devastating to witness such cruelty. No cause can ever justify the taking of innocent lives. To the grieving families, your sorrow is beyond words. Please know that you are not alone. The entire nation stands with you in mourning. Let us hold on to each other a little tighter and never lose hope that peace will prevail even in the face of darkness.”
However, his comment section quickly filled with criticism linking his role in ‘Empuraan’ to divisive political themes. One user remarked, “Shame on you! Your recently released movie depicted a boy training in Kashmir and attacking India! For money, you people stoop to any level!” Another added, “Make another Empuraan and justify terrorism,” while a third expressed, “I have lost all respect for this man.” Others questioned the sincerity of his condolences, with one user stating, “We don’t trust your words anymore.”
In response to his post, some netizens questioned whether future installments of Empuraan would reference the Pahalgam attack.
Following the attack on Tuesday, Malayalam actor and director Prithviraj, known for ‘Empuraan,’ also faced renewed criticism, with users revisiting his previous social media posts. Despite the backlash, many defended Mohanlal, arguing that the scale of disdain directed at him was disproportionate compared to other contributors to the film.

UP Teen Dies in Street Racing Crash In Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh: A 17-year-old Class 12 student died in a road accident during a street race in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday.

The victim, Naitik Kumar, was riding a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 with a group of bikers near Janeshwar Mishra Park. While racing, he suddenly lost control of his bike after hitting something on the road.

His bike crashed into a Honda Activa in front of him. He then fell onto a road divider and suffered serious head injuries.

The Activa slid across the road and hit another bike, a Kawasaki Ninja, which was moving at high speed. The Ninja rider was adjusting his action camera when the accident happened.

Naitik Kumar was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead. Police said he was not wearing proper protective gear.

Two others involved in the accident suffered minor injuries. Police are checking CCTV footage to find the exact cause of the crash.

BCM Hostel Manager Dies by Suicide

Hassan: A hostel manager working under the Backward Classes Welfare Department died by suicide in Channarayapatna of Hassan district.

The deceased has been identified as Lokesh (45). He had been serving as a warden for two hostels in Guddenahalli, Hassan, and was recently promoted as a hostel manager a few days ago. Following the promotion, he was posted as the manager of the BCM hostel in Channarayapatna.

According to reports, Lokesh allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself at his residence on Saturday night.

The exact reason for his suicide is not yet known. Local police visited the spot, conducted a preliminary inspection, and have begun an investigation into the incident.
