Abhishek Banerjee and Kamal Haasan Unite in Chennai, Praised Highly for ‘Stolen’

Published

on

Actor Abhishek Banerjee recently experienced an unforgettable moment in Chennai when he met the iconic Kamal Haasan, who expressed his admiration for Abhishek’s latest film, **‘Stolen’**. For Abhishek, this encounter was a monumental milestone—a dream realized.

Reflecting on their meeting, Abhishek said, “Growing up in Kalpakkam near Chennai, I watched Kamal Haasan sir’s films and admired him as a legend—a huge inspiration. Hearing such kind words about ‘Stolen’ from him feels surreal. I will cherish this moment forever.”

Accompanying Abhishek in Chennai were the film’s director Karan Tejpal and producer Gaurav Dhingra. This gathering was a celebration of their collective efforts, which have struck a chord not just with moviegoers but also with cinematic luminaries like Kamal Haasan.

**‘Stolen’** presents a gripping narrative about the abduction of a five-month-old baby from a poor tribal woman, and the two affluent brothers, Gautam and Raman, who witness this crime and choose to intervene. What begins as a rescue operation soon exposes deeper societal issues often overlooked.

The film’s impactful storytelling has garnered international recognition. **‘Stolen’** debuted at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, earned a special mention at the Zurich Film Festival, and attracted a full house at the BFI London Film Festival. Directed by Karan Tejpal and produced by Gaurav Dhingra under Jungle Book Studio, the film also features Shubham and Mia Maelzer alongside Abhishek.

Interestingly, Abhishek faced challenges during his journey with **‘Stolen’**. He recently spoke about his selective process when it comes to choosing roles. “I appreciated the story when I first read the script, but I had reservations about certain creative elements, particularly how my character’s emotions would develop,” he admitted.

Known for his dedication to fully embody his roles, Abhishek stated, “If it doesn’t resonate with me deeply, I can’t portray it effectively.” He took on a dual role in the film, also serving as an executive producer, which sparked intense creative discussions with Gaurav Dhingra. At one stage, Abhishek almost stepped away from the project due to differing visions.

However, instead of allowing conflict to arise, both found common ground. “I genuinely appreciate Gaurav’s willingness to listen,” said Abhishek. “That’s not something you encounter often in this industry. We transformed our disagreements into opportunities for growth. Great collaborations are often born from honest discussions.”

After reconciling their creative differences, everything fell into place swiftly. “Just two days after we found alignment, we were already on set. The rest, as they say, is history.”
