Abhay Deol Discusses the Re-release of ‘Road, Movie’: “It’s Both Novel and Thrilling!”

Abhay Deol’s 2009 film ‘Road, Movie’ is returning to theaters to commemorate its 15th anniversary. Reflecting on his experiences during that time, Abhay noted that, like his character in the film, he was in search of something fresh and distinct.

He took to Instagram to share the trailer for ‘Road, Movie,’ reminiscing about the film. “This was one of my early projects. Just as my character sought something new and exciting, so was I on that quest,” he wrote.

Encouraging fans to see the film on the big screen, he added, “If you’re eager for something that challenges the mainstream narrative—just as it did 15 years ago—make sure to catch the film in theaters before it departs!”

Directed by Dev Benegal, ‘Road, Movie’ stars Tannishtha Chatterjee and the late Satish Kaushik. It made its debut at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival and was later featured in the Generation 14plus section at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival in 2010. The narrative follows Vishnu, a young man undertaking a transformative journey across India’s diverse landscapes.

Abhay Deol is also making waves with his latest film, ‘Bun Tikki,’ which premiered at the 36th Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) in California. Directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, this coming-of-age drama delves into themes of identity, love, and family.

The plot centers around seven-year-old Shanu and his single father, Sidhant, as they navigate personal challenges and societal pressures. Shanu’s journey of self-discovery parallels Sidhant’s struggle to balance grief with parenthood.

Featuring a stellar cast that includes Zeenat Aman, Shabana Azmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Rohaan Singh, ‘Bun Tikki’ is generating considerable buzz.

In addition to his film work, Abhay Deol recently reunited with Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar for a commercial for Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The trio, who last shared the screen in ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,’ delighted fans by rekindling their camaraderie for the advertisement.
