90 Motorized Tricycles Distributed to Specially-Abled Persons in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: A total of 90 motorized tricycles were distributed to specially-abled persons in Dakshina Kannada district at a function held at Sri Benaka Sabhabhavana in Padavinangady.
The programme was organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Administration and the Zilla Panchayat in association with the Department of Labour, the Department of Factories, Boilers, Industrial Safety and Health, the Department for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens, and the Transport Department.
Speaking at the event, Karnataka Eco Tourism Development Board, Bengaluru President Shalet Pinto said that Minister Santosh Lad has special concern for workers. She said that such meaningful programmes are being conducted because of his commitment. She added that everyone in society has the right to live and that all are equal.
The tricycles were sponsored by various companies, including MRPL, PASTESTS Ltd, BASF, Yenepoya University, Mandovi Motors Pvt Ltd, Aravind Motors Pvt Ltd, Rohan Corporation Ltd, Camplo Ltd, and Invenger Technology Pvt Ltd.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V. was present at the programme. T.M. Shahid Thekkil, Chairman of the Karnataka State Minimum Wages Advisory Board, Mamatha Gatti, Chairperson of the Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation, Joaquim Stanley, President of the Konkani Sahitya Academy, Sadashiva Ullal, Chairman of Mangaluru Urban Development Authority, Prashanth Baliga, CGM of MRPL, and Keshava Patali from the CSR division also attended the event.
Labour Officer Kumar B.R. welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Labour Officer Wilma Elizabeth Tavro delivered the vote of thanks.

MRPL’s CSR Contribution
MRPL has spent several crores under its CSR fund for social development activities. The company has provided basic facilities to government schools and supported many social initiatives. In this programme, MRPL alone sponsored 50 out of the 90 motorized tricycles, making it the highest contributor among all participating companies.

Mangaluru: The 136th birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar was celebrated at the MRPL premises with respect and dignity.
On the occasion, Managing Director M. Shyamprasad Kamath, Director (Refinery) Nandakumar V. Pillai, and Director (Finance) Devendra Kumar offered floral tributes to the statue of Dr Ambedkar.
Members and office bearers of MSSEWA were present during the event. Senior officials, employees, and their family members also attended the programme.

PUC Result 2025–26: Alva’s Student Disha Tops State with Perfect Score
Mangaluru: The results of the Second PUC examination for the academic year 2025–26 have been announced. A student from Alva’s College in Dakshina Kannada district has secured the first rank in the state.
Disha, a Commerce student, scored a perfect 600 out of 600 marks. She achieved full marks in all subjects. This outstanding performance helped her secure the top position in the state.
Disha’s achievement has brought pride to her college and district. Alva’s College has once again shown its strong performance in academics.

Good Friday Observed with Devotion at St. Antony Church
Mangaluru : On Good Friday, April 3, 2026, the faithful of Allipade Parish gathered at St. Antony Church in a spirit of deep devotion. The solemn service was led by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza, along with Rev. Fr. Anush D’Cunha SJ and Rev. Fr. Leston Lobo SJ.
The priests guided the congregation through prayers and reflections on the Passion and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The atmosphere was calm and prayerful, with many observing fasting and silence.
