22 Murders in Just 2 Days: Rabri Devi Criticizes Nitish Government’s Law and Order in Bihar

Former Chief Minister of Bihar and RJD leader Rabri Devi sharply criticized the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government on Monday, highlighting the escalating law and order crisis in the state.

Rabri Devi, accompanied by party MLAs, staged a protest outside the Bihar Assembly in Patna in response to the recent surge in violence that has resulted in the deaths of police officers.

Questioning the Nitish government’s claims of good governance, Rabri Devi expressed concern, stating, “If police officers are not safe, what can the ordinary citizens expect?”

She raised alarming questions about the deteriorating security situation: “If 22 murders occurred in just two days during Holi, how many may be happening daily? They claim there is good governance and that law and order are intact. Where is that order? If government officials, including inspectors and constables, are being murdered, what will happen to the common people?”

Echoing criticisms of her husband Lalu Prasad’s administration, she remarked that such violence did not occur during what was termed “Jungle Raj.” “This is Mangalraj; under Jungle Raj, inspectors and constables were not murdered. Now, in Mangalraj, no one feels safe,” she stated.

The RJD protests come in the wake of multiple violent incidents across Bihar, as the state prepares for upcoming elections later this year.

On March 14, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Santosh Kumar Singh was killed while investigating a disturbance in Nandlalpur village, Munger district. He was reportedly attacked by a mob while trying to break up a fight on Holi.

During Holi festivities in Patna, ASI Vivek Kumar Yadav and other constables faced violent resistance from miscreants while on duty. The attackers managed to rescue one of their associates from police custody before escaping.

Additionally, on March 12, ASI Rajiv Ranjan Mall lost his life while trying to apprehend a suspect in Araria district, suffering fatal injuries during a violent confrontation with locals.
