17-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Jumps From 23rd Floor In Mumbai.

Mumbai: A 17-year-old Class XI student died after allegedly jumping from the 23rd floor of a residential tower in Goregaon East on Thursday.

The incident occurred in the early hours at the Oberoi Square complex. According to officials, the teenager leapt from the C wing of the building. This marks the second such case in the same complex within a month a male student had previously died after jumping from the A wing.

Police at Aarey Colony station have registered a case of accidental death and are conducting further investigations.

Mumbai Tragedy: Woman Dies After Boulder Falls on Moving Car in Tamhini Ghat

Mumbai: A tragic accident occurred on the Tamhini Ghat road in Maharashtra when a massive boulder fell on a moving Volkswagen Virtus car, killing a woman instantly.

Reports say the car was travelling through the hilly ghat section when a large rock rolled down from the mountain and crashed onto the car’s sunroof. The rock struck the woman seated inside, causing her immediate death.

The deceased has been identified as Snehal Gujarati (43). Police confirmed that the impact was so strong that she died on the spot before any medical help could reach her.

Authorities have urged drivers to be extra cautious while passing through ghat sections, especially during or after rain, as such regions are highly prone to rockfalls and landslides.

Mumbai: PM Modi Praises India’s Strong Maritime Growth at India Maritime Week

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s remarkable progress in the maritime sector while taking part in the Global Maritime CEO Forum held as part of India Maritime Week in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, welcomed the Prime Minister and highlighted India’s rapid growth and achievements in the shipping and port sectors.

“India has made outstanding progress in the maritime field, becoming a key player in global trade,” Sonowal said while addressing the gathering.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also spoke at the event, crediting Prime Minister Modi for giving a new dimension to India’s maritime development. “If India has entered a new era in global trade, the credit goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His vision has helped Maharashtra and the nation move toward greater growth,” Fadnavis said.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated several new projects during the event. In his speech, he said that India’s maritime sector is growing rapidly and becoming stronger. He mentioned that old maritime laws, some centuries old, have been replaced with modern and futuristic ones suited for the 21st century.

“Today, India’s ports are among the most efficient in the developing world. In fact, many of our ports perform better than those in several developed countries,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that the current global challenges and trade instability have created new opportunities for India. “India stands as a symbol of progress through strategic independence, clarity, and unity,” he concluded.

Mangaluru: NMPA Signs Major ₹53,000 Crore Agreements at India Maritime Week 2025

Mumbai: The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) has signed agreements worth ₹53,000 crore with 18 major industries during the second day of the ongoing India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.

The five-day national maritime conference aims to boost investment and development along India’s western coast. NMPA Chairman Dr. A. V. Ramana signed the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with key partners, including MRPL, Aegis Vopak, Reliance, APL, GMPL, and IPRCL.

Speaking at the session on port tourism, Dr. Ramana highlighted the importance of developing cruise capacity, seamless passenger experiences, digitalization, coastal power integration, and green tourism infrastructure for India’s growth.
