“I was fortunate with the roles I was offered, but there was this one occasion when a female casting agent told me, ‘You will have to make compromises.’ Given that it was a woman making this statement, I felt compelled to challenge her,” she shared. “It was an unsettling moment because it felt like betrayal coming from someone who should empathize with another woman’s struggles.”

“I kept asking, ‘Ma’am, I don’t quite understand what you mean,’ hoping she would clarify her words,” she explained. When the agent eventually hinted at her implication, Saiyami responded firmly: “I’m sorry if you think I’m someone who would consider this path, but there are boundaries I won’t cross.” That ended the conversation.
